Painting has been my passion for as far back as I can remember. I learned techniques and tactics of painting through long hours spent at the Prado and other important museums in Madrid (my native city) admiring the great masters, focusing on the different techniques and tactics used by each individual painter and how these techniques changed through the ages. Perhaps a classical theme, intertwined with bright colours sparked my curiosity and imagination. Works of Dali alongside those of Klimt, admiring the detail in the works of Mucha and the brilliance of Picasso; Cubism with Classical, breaking all the rules.

I have always been fascinated by the beauty of the female body; those sensual features of a beautiful woman tortured by that same beauty. I am particularly drawn to the early decades of the 20th century, with its very feminine designs in clothing, hairstyles, even makeup.

Hollywood of the 1930’s holds a special fascination for me. Movies of lives consumed by drama. Incredibly beautiful women surrounded by luxury, great mansions and wealth which are undermined by secrets of lives in torment because of love and betrayal.

Feminine beauty, as represented by the female body has almost always been expressed in art as well as in literature as a symbol of that which is unobtainable and elusive. I try to portray this in my art by painting what might appear as a moment in the lives of these ethereal beauties, as though taken by the camera lens without their knowledge. I try to portray the essence of the moment of a time gone by, never to return. I hope that the observer of my art will add their own meaning to each picture, that each painting will hold a different meaning for each observer.

My work has been exhibited throughout Ireland with great success, The Green Gallery, ( Dublin) Dundrum Gallery ( Dublin) The old Market arts Centre (Dungarvan), Manifesto Gallery (Waterford), The Jones Gallery (Co. Waterford), also I have worked with the best auction houses in the country with great results Adams Auctioneers ( Dublin) and Dolan‘s (Galway). I had exhibited on a small scale in Spain before moving to Ireland to live some years ago. I am now beginning to show works in Spain again, and it is a great joy for me that galleries and private individuals are showing considerable interest.

At my last exhibition in The Old Market Centre in Dungarvan, Co. Waterford, two of my paintings were acquired by Waterford County Council for their civic collection. I consider this a great honour as they have acquired works from some of the most important artists in the country. Just this month one of my paintings was used on the cover of Choice magazine.

This month I also start a new Endeavour. I have been hired by the Ritz hotel in Powerscourt, Co. Wicklow as their in-house artist for works for the hotel itself, as well as commissioned works for the clients of the hotel.

I cannot imagine a life without painting. I hope that the passion I feel for it now and that has been present from my early childhood never burns out and that as I learn and improve with experience, I will achieve my goal of becoming an internationally known and respected artist of my time.
